For clients and families
What to expect when you start care with Pathways to Joyful Living: how services begin, how pricing works, your rights as a client, and who to call.
How services start
Request care
Call us or send a short Request Care form with your contact details, the type of help needed and your preferred start date.
Initial conversation
We call you back to talk through needs, schedule, rates and whether our services are the right fit.
Assessment
We assess needs, safety considerations and preferences, so we can confirm we can safely provide the care requested.
Service agreement and care plan
You receive a written service agreement covering services, schedule, rates, billing, cancellations and how services can end, plus a care plan you help create.
Care begins
Your caregiver arrives as scheduled. We document each visit, check in with you and review the plan as needs change.
How pricing and payment work
Clear, written rates with no surprises.
- Rates depend on the type of care and the schedule. We share them in writing during your consultation.
- Your signed service agreement sets out services, rates, billing terms and accepted payment methods before care begins.
- Invoices are itemized with service dates, hours, rates and balance due.
- You'll receive written notice in advance of any change to our rates.
- If you think there's a billing error, tell us and we'll review it promptly. Refunds are handled as described in your service agreement.
Your rights as a client
- To be treated with dignity, consideration and respect
- To privacy and confidentiality of your personal information and records
- To take part in planning your care, and to accept or refuse services
- To be free from abuse, neglect and exploitation
- To receive written information about services and charges
- To voice concerns or complaints without fear of retaliation
You'll receive a full written statement of client rights before services begin.
Concerns and complaints
We want to hear about anything that isn't right. To raise a concern:
- Call us at (571) 300-5456 or email Joyfulliving87@gmail.com
- We'll acknowledge your concern, look into it and tell you what we found and what we'll do
- Raising a concern won't affect your care
You may also contact the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Licensure and Certification. Details are included in your written client rights statement.
Cancellations and changes
If you need to change or cancel a visit, please let us know as early as possible. Cancellation terms are set out in your service agreement. If your caregiver is delayed, we'll let you know.
Emergencies
In a medical emergency, call 911 first. We provide non-medical home care and are not an emergency service.
For non-emergency questions, call our office at (571) 300-5456 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Outside office hours, leave a message and we'll return your call.
